Adopt-A-Tree

The “Adopt a Tree” program, initiated by the Rotary Districts 9675 & 9705, is a heartfelt commitment to nurturing nature and fostering a greener future. This inspiring initiative invites Rotarians and community members to come together and plant trees, each a symbol of hope and renewal. By adopting a tree, participants contribute to combating climate change, restoring habitats, and beautifying local landscapes.

Every tree planted is a step toward a healthier planet, a legacy for future generations, and a testament to the power of collective action. The program not only enriches the environment but also cultivates a sense of stewardship and responsibility, reminding us that we all play a crucial role in caring for our world. Rotary District 9675 consists of over 60 Clubs from Sydney to the Illawarra. Each Club is different and offer a diverse range of projects and programs.

Rotary District 9705 consists of over 80 clubs based in the south and west of NSW and in the ACT.

This effort is vital for maintaining the ecological health of the region and supporting its diverse wildlife.

In the Crookwell region, Moorabinda hosted a tree-planting event where 500 trees were planted. This initiative aimed to restore native vegetation and support local wildlife. The new trees will also help mitigate the effects of climate change by sequestering carbon and improving air quality.

In Wollondilly, an area known for its rich natural resources and rural landscapes, a tree-planting event focused on improving the local environment. Planting 250 trees helps support biodiversity, improve air quality, and provide shade and shelter for both humans and wildlife. This initiative is part of broader conservation efforts aimed at preserving the natural beauty and ecological health of the area.

• Casuarinas (She-Oak or Sheoak)
• Acacia Rubida (Red Stem Wattle)
• Eucalyptus Radiata (Narrow Leaved Peppermint Gum)

Candelo, a rural community known for its agriculture, hosted a tree-planting event at Tabitha Farm. The 1,000 trees planted will help restore native vegetation, improve soil health, and provide windbreaks for the farm. The new trees will contribute to the town’s scenic beauty and provide environmental benefits, such as carbon sequestration and improved air quality.

In Crookwell, a town characterized by its cold climate and agricultural lands, the tree-planting at Kiamma Creek focused on riparian restoration. Planting 500 trees along the creek helps improve water quality by filtering pollutants, stabilizing the banks, and providing habitat for aquatic and terrestrial species. This effort is vital for maintaining the ecological health of the waterway and surrounding areas.

As part of ongoing efforts to green the rapidly urbanizing area around Western Sydney Airport, 1,500 trees were planted. Canowindra, a town known for its rich history and agricultural background, hosted a tree-planting event at Belubula Park. The park, located along the Belubula River, is an important recreational area. This effort also helps stabilize the riverbanks, reducing the risk of erosion and protecting water quality.

The tree-planting event at Emu Swamp in Orange, a region known for its wine production and orchards, was focused on enhancing the natural landscape. The planting of 550 trees contributes to the preservation of water quality by reducing runoff and soil erosion. This initiative also provides additional greenery to the area, supporting local wildlife and improving the aesthetic value of the region’s natural spaces.

Kildrummie, a rural locality known for its agricultural activities, was the site of a significant tree-planting initiative. The planting of 850 trees aimed to restore the natural habitat and protect the soil from erosion. This initiative supports the preservation of local biodiversity and helps mitigate the effects of farming on the environment, ensuring a more sustainable balance between agriculture and nature.

Located in the rapidly developing region of Western Sydney, this tree-planting event took place at the new airport site. The area is undergoing extensive construction, which has resulted in the loss of natural vegetation. By planting 350 trees, the Rotary Club aimed to offset the environmental impact of the construction and enhance the green infrastructure around the airport. The trees planted will help improve air quality, provide habitat for local wildlife, and create a more aesthetically pleasing environment for future travelers and residents.
